 SAOBC Chief Executive Officer
Anton Kruger was appointed new Chief Executive Officer of the South African
Ostrich Business Chamber as from the beginning of 2004.
Anton started off his career as a teacher in Windhoek, later joined
the SWA Broadcasting Corporation as radio- and TV presenter and was
appointed head of the National Radio Service in Namibia. Following
that, he was appointed as Director of Public Relations at the
University of Potchefstroom and from there joined Sanlam as deputy
General Manager : Marketing (Employee Benefits division). Subsequently
he became Head of Operations of one the other Sanlam companies
(Multi-Data) and was instrumental in the selling of this company to BDB.
Anton also owned and operated an own business in the northern suburbs
of Cape Town before moving to Oudtshoorn where he was appointed as
manager of the SA Ostrich Business Chamber.
Anton holds an MBA degree as well as a BA Honours (Geography), Higher
Education Diploma and a Diploma in Investment Management.
He is married to Retha (a music teacher) and they have two children;
Wikus is completing his Masters Degree in Sustainable Development at the University
of Stellenbosch. Wilmien is a third year member of the group "C-Kruis" that utilises
performing arts to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The Kruger family loves music and especially
choir music and Anton and Retha met each other while they were both members
of the university choir. Their children were members of the North West
Childrens' Choir, the Tygerberg Childrens' Choir and the Pro Cantu Youth
Choir.
