The CEO of the SAOBC, Anton Kruger said that the motivation for donating this case was to be found in the historic significance of this visit, as well as the potential market for ostrich products in Russia.
Ostrich leather is durable, exotic, and unique and is used in the manufacturing of clothing, shoes, fashion items and upholstery (including motor vehicles).
South Africa is the world leader in terms of ostrich production as well as the technology to process ostrich leather-, meat and feathers, making these quite sought after items.
